Hi! I'm Jess

🐢 This week calls for slowness, presence, and a little gratitude

Hi Reader,

It’s been a heavy week here in the St. Louis region. After the tornadoes and severe storms swept through, many in our community are still assessing damage, processing loss, or simply sitting with a deeper sense of unease.

Even if you weren’t directly impacted, there’s something unsettling about witnessing nature in such a powerful, destructive form. And in times like these, it can feel strange to carry on with “normal” rhythms.

But I believe in the medicine of presence. Of remembering our connection to the living world, even in its damaged or shifting state.

That’s part of why I do this work.

Forest bathing offers a gentle, grounding way to reconnect with nature and begin to restore a sense of steadiness after disruption. It’s not about fixing - it’s about being with.

💚 If you or someone you know was affected and would benefit from a no-cost community healing Forest Bathing & Nature Therapy Session, I’d be honored to offer one. Just hit reply and and let me know. We all need support right now - sometimes in the form of stillness and shared breath.

☀️

And because this season keeps moving forward, I also want to acknowledge what many of us are juggling:

Field trips. Final projects. End-of-year everything. I felt it myself this week trying to pull together meaningful gifts for my son’s teachers.

In the end, I landed on gifts that felt both fun and quietly meaningful. Little tokens of appreciation that said: Go outside. Rest. Play. Take time for yourself.

They were lighthearted and cheeky on the outside, but the message beneath it all was simple: you deserve space to exhale.

I share more about the ideas that emerged—and why I think nature-based gifts are the best kind—over on the blog this week: 🌿 7 Nature-Based Gifts to Show Your Teacher You Truly Care

It’s full of thoughtful ideas for anyone who’s been wondering what to give (besides another mug or candle). I hope it sparks something for you.

And while that post is full of fun, creative ideas for gifting your appreciation outward, I also want to offer you a little something to turn inward.

Because May isn’t just busy for teachers. For many of us, this season comes with a swirl of movement, planning, and expectation.

Which is why this week’s Nature Connection Invitation is all about the pause.

Nature Connection Invitation: 🌿 Find the Pause

Choose a five-minute window today to do absolutely nothing. Bonus if you can do it outdoors, near a patch of green or a sunny spot.

Let yourself sit or stand still. No phone. No podcast. No plan.

Just feel the air. Notice what’s moving around you. Listen for birdsong or breeze.

There’s no outcome required. No insight you have to walk away with.

Just the practice of stopping. The practice of presence.

That’s the beginning of slowing your own internal season.

That’s how we remind our nervous system: we’re allowed to rest.

Sometimes the smallest pause reveals what we’re truly needing.

👉 If you try this invitation, I’d love to hear how it landed for you. Hit reply and share what you noticed with me - I read every email and love hearing from you!

And if you’re still looking for something meaningful to give a teacher (or to request as one), I’d love for you to consider this:

🌿 A Gift for the Teachers in Your Life

📅 Restore in Nature: A Day Retreat for Educators
Saturday, May 31 | 9 AM–2 PM | Babler State Park

This isn’t a training or workshop. It’s a day retreat designed to help educators release the year, restore their nervous systems, and feel like themselves again.

Because they deserve more than a thank you. They deserve to feel free.

End of School Year Sale - Save $20 this week!

Because the best thank-you might be an invitation to rest. 🌱

Whatever season you’re in, whether you're winding down, speeding up, or floating somewhere in between; I hope you find a small pocket of stillness this week.

And I hope you offer it to someone else, too.

In Peace and Presence,
🌱 Jess
