Hi Reader, It’s been a while since I’ve written, but before the shopping emails start rolling in, I wanted to offer you a little pause, and take a moment to say how grateful I am that you are part of this community that cares about slowing down and connecting with the natural world 🐌 🍄🟫 🌲. I’ve been in a bit of a healing cocoon lately after ankle reconstruction surgery earlier this month. It's been a lot of resting, moving more slowly (literally) and working on getting better at receiving help. One of the things keeping me sane and grounded right now is the bird feeder outside my window. 👇 Every day, I crack the window open just enough to let the cool autumn air and birdsong in. It’s been a great reminder that even when we’re still, life continues to move and sing around us. 🌿 Nature Connection Invitation: The Serviceberry Pause If you’ve read The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer, you know the heart of it; true wealth lives in relationship and reciprocity. On days like this, when family dynamics can feel complicated or tender feelings can surface, it can be comforting to remember that our belonging doesn’t only come from the human world. We’re held in relationship with the more-than-human world too (a.k.a. nature!). Take a moment to notice a living being near you. Perhaps a tree, a bird, or even the wind moving through your yard. Imagine the unseen web of relationships it’s part of. Then gently ask yourself: What relationships are sustaining me right now? Let one come forward, and give yourself a moment to simply appreciate it. Wishing you peace and presence in your day today whether you’re stepping outside for some nature therapy or spending time inside with the people you love 🥧 🍽️ 🦃.
