Hey Reader, It’s been a few weeks since I’ve sent a 🌿 Nature Brief, and I have to be honest, I’ve been enjoying the space. July and August are kind of my summer 'pause' from public events because St. Louis heat and humidity are not exactly begging us to gather outdoors for long periods of time. 🥵 But I’m still very much in relationship with summer. Lately that looks like getting out around 6:30am to walk three miles before the day gets too hot. Yes, even in this heat. And I have to say, getting close to 10,000 steps before 9am feels like a whole other level of self accomplishment but this ritual has become my time to connect with what’s alive right now. 🌻 I’ve also found myself spending more time away from social media, which has felt really good and really necessary. Some seasons ask us to be more outward-facing. Some seasons ask us to tend what’s happening behind the scenes. Right now, I’m in a bit of a behind-the-scenes season. I’m working on corporate wellness outreach, refining some of my nature-based programming, planning for the Autumn Rhythm Reset, and making room for a family vacation to Michigan. I’ve also been feeling creative again, which means I made something useful for you! It’s called Summer Social Media Reset Bingo, and I’m sharing it (along with more of the backstory) on the blog:
If you’ve been wanting to spend less time getting pulled into your phone and more time actually noticing the world around you, this is for you. Summer Social Media Reset Bingo is a free printable with tiny nature-based pauses you can use before you scroll, when you need a reset, or when you just want a simple way to come back to your body and the real world around you. Print it out. Put it on your fridge. Make it a family practice. Pick one square when your thumb starts reaching for the feed. No pressure to complete the whole thing. No perfect practice required. Just a playful way to touch grass before you scroll. 😉 I also wrote a blog post sharing more about why I made it, how I’m thinking about my own summer social media reset, and how small moments of nature connection can help bring us back to real life. If you’re in a season where you need to pause, or simply want permission to move a little slower, I hope this meets you where you are Reader.
