🌻 Your August rhythm reset starts here

Hey Reader,
Before I say anything else, I just want to name this: the world feels big right now.
The weather is extreme. The headlines are relentless. The pressure is real and seems to hit you in all areas of life - mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, relationally...
And whether you’re showing up everyday out of commitment, care, necessity, or a mix of all three, it makes complete sense if you’re feeling a little lost (or even 'checked out') in the storm of it all.
I’ve been sitting with the question: How do we stay in relationship with the world without losing touch with ourselves?
I don’t have a neat answer.
But I do know that the small things we do to tend to our nervous systems, our bodies, and our minds really matter. Especially now.
The little rituals. The way we pause. The moments we choose not to numb out but to soften in.
That’s the work. That’s the rhythm I’m trying to stay connected to, even when everything else feels uncertain. And maybe you’ve noticed I wasn’t in your inbox the past couple of weeks. Or maybe you haven’t, because your own life is feeling full to the brim. I’ve been in a quieter season myself - recovering from a Crohn’s flare-up and some iron infusions that didn’t go as planned. It forced me to slow down in ways I hadn’t intended, but maybe really needed.
Instead of pushing through (as this Capricorn loves to do 🐐🙄), I let myself rest.
I journaled, took long walks, did small projects that felt nourishing, and reconnected with an old friend. And from that slower rhythm, something new emerged. I started to feel better, a sense of renewal, and recalibration.
But as we all know - life flows in and has a way of taking over the best intentions to slow down.
To help myself stay grounded and connected to this slower pace going into August, I made a visual cue to keep by my desk and I thought you might like it too. It's a simple clean, one-page printable reminder to soften, nourish, and come back to my body.
I'm calling it the Slow Summer Field Guide, and I’m sharing it with you (along with more of the backstory) on the blog:
It offers several nature-based sensory practices and prompts to support your nervous system and help you remember to connect with nature, your physical body, and your inner self. Especially when you’re feeling overstimulated, disconnected, or just a little too “on.”
Try printing this out and hanging it as a visible reminder on your fridge or near your desk to stay connected to the practice of slowing down throughout the month of August.
If you’re in a season where you need to pause, or simply want permission to move a little slower, I hope this meets you where you are.
With you in the slowness, 🐌 Jess
P.S. A few things coming up that I’d love to invite you into:
🍂 Fall Forest Bathing Events I’ll be announcing my full fall schedule soon, and if you’ve been wanting to come forest bathing with me this fall, now’s the time to plan ahead. My autumn walks tend to fill quickly once the cooler air returns. If you know you want in, I recommend grabbing tickets early once they go live. Keep an eye on urbanforesttherapy.com/events or just reply to this email and I’ll make sure you’re among the first to know when it's live.
🌾 September Small Group Reset (waitlist now open) This gentle, nourishing reset is for those who want to downshift out of summer and enter fall with more focus, energy, and intention. Together in a small, supportive group, we’ll explore recalibrating the nervous system, metabolic healing & nourishment, and bodyful movement as a way to awaken energy, clarity, and focus - not as a chore, but as a way back to yourself. If you’re ready to clear the brain fog and feel more alive, connected, and like yourself again heading into fall, join the waitlist here. This will be a very small group and I expect it to fill quickly.
🌀 Rhythm Reset Sessions (a few single session spots opening soon) If you're feeling unfocused, stuck, or weighed down, I’m opening a handful of Rhythm Reset Sessions in late August. These are gentle, personalized 1:1 sessions to help you regroup, re-align, and reboot your motivation to start taking action with your health goals. No ongoing commitment. Just a chance to drop in and get support and spark forward momentum. Spots will be limited for the month, and once they’re booked, I won’t be opening more until later in September. 👉 Want to be the first to know when booking opens? Click here and I’ll send you the link when it’s live.
💫 P.P.S. I’ve also been having a lot of fun lately experimenting with design and visual tools - leaning into my creativity and making more playful, useful printables and graphics for Urban Forest Therapy. You might notice things looking a little different around here! I’m embracing the messy evolution and would truly love your feedback if something catches your eye or feels supportive. 💚
